I Am Not Forgotten

But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

We are on the mind of the one who created the heavens and the earth, the God who told the mountains to come this high and the waters to stop there. Those words and images can bring such comfort and help us to rest in peace as we live our lives.

Facing the storms of life can be difficult from any perspective. We can be thinking that we have no idea how we are going to make it through. But as challenging as life may be, we need to remember that we are not alone. God is with us always and sees our pain. Hebrews 2:17–18 says that Jesus was “fully human in every way” and understands the experiences we go through. Nothing happens without him knowing all the details.

For those who struggle with ailments, it sure can feel like God has forgotten us. The truth is that he is right beside us. He is sitting with us in our therapy sessions. He is in line with us at the pharmacy. He is in the room when our depression is so bad we can’t get out of bed. He is even there when we feel nothing.

When we start feeling as though we’ve been forgotten by God, we have some choices. We can become angry and bitter and turn inward, away from God, relying on our own power to resolve our challenges. Or we can go back to Scripture that reminds us of who we are in Christ. We are written on the palm of his hand. We are his children.

God knows both your name and address.
