All Is Lost
All Is Lost
You failed that class. How will you graduate? The homeless man is now in jail and doesn’t know when he’ll get out. You cherish your friendship with that couple, but you just heard they’re getting a divorce. You’ve had stretches of victory over your addiction, but just can’t seem to break free.
Every adventure has an all is lost moment when the bottom drops out and it seems there is nowhere to turn.
The right thing to do may depend on your circumstances. Reach out to your traveling companions for support. Because they’re on a similar adventure, few will encourage you like they can.
Always pray.
And know this: there is a great deal of freedom in helplessness. When you’ve run out of options, you’re finally free, with a whole heart, to reach out for the One who can rescue you when no one else can.
“In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry.” —Jonah 2:2
