Deep Thoughts
Deep Thoughts
Once you’ve purged your mind of the noise, you can start to fill it again.
But slowly. Methodically. Deeply.
Find a good book. The Bible is a good book. Other books can serve this purpose too. It should be a book about what matters. A book that can hit you right between the eyes with just one line. It should speak to the deepest parts of you. It should stir. Inspire. It should give you a foundation to engage the chaos.
Keep silent as you read. Remember to breathe. Remember to listen.
Take notes. What’s coming to the surface as you read?
Pray about what you read, write, and think. Lift your thoughts to God and ask Him what He thinks.
Remember: rest isn’t just about the absence of activity. It’s about freeing your mind and spirit so that they might be built up again.
Think deeply.
Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report . . . think on these things. —Philippians 4:8 KJV
