Do You Want To Be Made Well?

Do You Want to Be Made Well?

Sometimes the wounds you carry seem like old friends. When you decide something’s here to stay, you grow accustomed to it. After a while, they become a type of security blanket. In a bit of twisted irony, you can’t imagine life without them.

It may seem like an insulting question, but it needs to be asked: Do really want to be healed of your past hurts? Do you want to be made well?

If you didn’t immediately answer, then you’re probably believing a lie. Those past hurts aren’t your friends. Leaving them behind won’t be the death of you. You didn’t deserve to receive that pain, and you aren’t fated to live with it forever.

Come to terms with any resistance you may have to being healed because you’ll have to take some action in order to receive it.

When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well? . . . Rise, take up your bed and walk.” —John 5:6, 8 NKJV
