Getting Away From It All
Getting Away from It All
Let’s face it. Most vacations are hardly restful.
You spend hours in the car with cranky family members or you arrive at the airport to find that your flight’s been delayed. You pay extraordinary prices for lodging, food, and mementos; if visiting family, you sleep on a bed too small for you and bicker with relatives about which restaurant to go to.
You return home exhausted, thinking you could sure use a vacation.
In order to rest, you need to get away from it all. And while the rare vacation might suffice, you need it far more often than once a year. If possible, you should do it every day; you need time away from everything. Everything that steals energy from your body, mind, and spirit.
So while sleep is certainly one way to restore your body, you also need a vacation for your mind and spirit.
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. —Luke 5:16
