Living for What Is Noble

British period dramas provide a few lessons in living above and beyond.

Women wear demure gowns and whisper about handsome suitors and modest virtues. The men—donned in tails and ruffles—stand as ready protectors of king and country. It’s a bit elitist to be sure, but there is also an admirable quality to this royal standard of decorum.

As a child in God’s kingdom, you will find yourself raised to the status of nobility. So as you stand up a bit straighter, wearing your Sunday best, you too can rise to this standard—in what you think, what you say, and in the honor and respect you hold for others.

You don’t have to look like a snob. More likely, you’ll have the grateful look of one who knows you were snatched from the rat-infested streets to stand at court in the palace of the King.
