More Than The Family You Know
More Than the Family You Know
What do you do when your family isn’t a family? Where do you turn when normal dysfunction turns into a never-ending cycle of abuse and toxic behavior?
All people—and therefore all families—can be brought back from the brink, so you shouldn’t give up all hope. Find relief in knowing that there is more to family than the family you know. You can be adopted into another family.
God often did this when someone’s family didn’t measure up or when a person’s future depended on being raised by another family. Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s family. The prophet Samuel was adopted. Jesus is God’s son, but Joseph adopted Him as his own.
Sometimes we need a new family to love us, raise us up, and guide us to become someone who matters. This could be friends at church, a support group, or any community where people are pursuing what matters and where you feel like you’re home.
Home is where you find it. And so is family.
“Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” —Matthew 12:50
