Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

The car is always in the shop. You can’t see your desk through the mountain of paperwork. You seem to be buying more and more with the credit card. You’re always arguing with your loved one about one issue or another.

You’re living in crisis management. Your focus is always drawn to putting out little fires. Focusing on what matters is the last thing you could imagine doing.

But consider that your car wouldn’t break down as much if you regularly changed the oil. Perhaps a few late nights are needed to sort through all that paperwork. Maybe it’s time to sit down and write out a budget. Maybe it’s time for a weekly date night and a few weekend getaways.

Although it may require a shift in behavior and some sacrifice, focusing on preventive maintenance will free you to focus more on the life the matters.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. —Proverbs 21:5
