Reflections In A Mirror

Reflections in a Mirror

A big joy in parenting is that your children often share your looks, your mannerisms, and your talents. You burst with pride that who you are has been passed on to to this remarkable, precious human being.

But this reflection can also fill you with terror. You’re not passing on just your strengths to your children, but also your weaknesses.

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Hopefully you admire what you see. But you probably also struggle with some insecurity and shame. The next time you look in the mirror, remember this: you were created in the image of God. That means you can rise above your weakness, and so can your children.

The more you can rest in the confidence of who you’re becoming, the better you’ll encourage your children to do the same.

By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. —1 Corinthians 15:10
