The Function Of Dysfunction
The Function of Dysfunction
Go beneath the skin of most anything, and you’re probably going to find a complete mess. Cut into the human body, and you’ll gasp at the mesh of tissue, bone, and organs. Crack open an electric gadget, and you’ll scratch your head at the glob of wires and circuits.
Inside the walls of your average house is a complicated mess of human dysfunction. Family members who, for all their selfishness and conflict, don’t look like they could serve any purpose or function that matters.
But consider that where the casual observer sees a mess of blood and guts or a tangled glob of wires, a doctor or a technician sees purpose and order, not to mention what the object’s designer will see.
The dysfunction of family does have a function. You simply need to look to the Designer to understand what that function is.
He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. —Job 26:7
