The Main Object Of Your Desire
The Main Object of Your Desire
We want to please those we love most.
Wives join their husbands on golfing trips. Husbands sit patiently on mall benches outside boutiques. Parents attend soccer matches in the wind and rain. We do things like this when the object of our love is more important than our sacrifice or discomfort.
As you grow to know God better, you grow to love Him more too. You’ll find that the promises you read about in His Word start coming true. You’ll be less cynical about Him and more grateful for how much He cares for you. Your focus in following Him will become less about obligation and more about adoration.
It’s true that God knows far better than we do how we should conduct our lives. It becomes a lot easier to trade your desires for His when He becomes the main object of your desire.
“If you love me, keep my commands.” —John 14:15
