The Still Shot

The Still Shot

There is nothing like capturing a moment in time.

Many prefer the visual medium of movies, television, or home video. There’s action, movement; a story is often told from beginning to end.

But a still shot? There’s a story there too. You just have to pause to appreciate it.

The frozen moment of pure joy on your child’s face as she soars on a swing . . . The tender look of intimacy as a couple steals a glance at their daughter’s wedding reception . . . The eternal look of pride in a father’s eyes as he poses with his son after his first football game . . .

Too often, our lives are a blur because we try to place our focus on far too many things at once when our camera is meant to focus on only one object at a time. Even when we’re trying to focus on what matters, life might not have total clarity.

Appreciate the beauty of a moment in time. Then you can move on to the next.

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
