True Acceptance
True Acceptance
Your best friends are people you actually look forward to seeing. When their faces pop into your head, you cheer up. When you step into their house, the stress melts off you like ice chips on a warm day. You wear no masks and they put on none for you. Like your closest family, when you’re with them, you’re home.
True friends accept you for who you are. Acceptance matters. It’s the fabric of love and companionship. You’ll need unconditional acceptance for any friendship to rise above superficial fakery and hollow acquaintance.
Remember, though, that although everyone is running after acceptance, not everyone desires the life that matters. When you’re with friends who do value that, their acceptance will ring all the truer. They’ll accept you for who you are without any sense of condemnation, and they’ll help you accept who you can become.
That’s the acceptance that matters.
“Neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” —John 8:11
