Watch Your Bearing
Another way to improve your manners is in your bearing—how you carry yourself and come across to others.
Start with dress and hygiene. Everyone should honor themselves and others through modest attire. Remember that cleanliness isn’t just about your health but about respecting the sensitivities of those around you.
How are your boundaries? Your neighbors may like cats, but they don’t want yours in their yard. Some people just aren’t huggers. Talk on your cell phone in the presence of others only when absolutely necessary.
Make it your goal to never be called rude. Yield to others in traffic, take your arguments outside, and remember that the customer service person you’re so mad at has a family too.
You may live like you’re an island, but you’re much closer to land than you realize. Care enough about others that you show them proper respect.
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” —Luke 6:31
