What Is Finished

You should never retire from or give up on producing a life that matters. In that sense, your job will never be finished. But that doesn’t mean your journey will have no benchmarks, no victories, no sense of accomplishment along the way.

Your child comes home with an A on the homework that you worked on together. The friend you’ve been spending hours on the phone counseling calls back to say that she is going to try to work things out with her spouse. Your kid graduates college. You finally pay off the mortgage. You renew your wedding vows after forty years of marriage.

What you produce will have results. You will bear fruit. But after one task is finished, another will begin. Until your last breath, until you are truly finished with this life, more will always await you.
