What Is Right

We live in a world where it’s not polite to be right. If you are right, then somebody else is wrong, and that’s just bad manners.

And although we should walk in humility and respect for others when we disagree, that doesn’t mean there is no right and wrong.

Most people agree that murder is wrong. Most frown on adultery. The abuse of children? That’s not right. Injustices occur every day, and these need to be righted.

But what about the less dramatic areas? Is it wrong to fudge a bit on your taxes? How about talking behind your friend’s back? Is it right to max out your credit card on stuff you don’t need?

Sometimes when we are reluctant to hold others to standards of right and wrong, we also let ourselves off the hook.

Without wisdom, you’ll stray from a life that matters. And wisdom requires the pursuit of what is right.
