Did you ever play the game where you must find a hidden object and another person gives you hints as to how close you are? They give clues: “Warm. Warmer. Colder. Warm. You’re getting warmer . . .” And when you finally locate the object, you are burning up, absolutely on fire!

Your first step toward discovering why you are here is to follow your internal clues about the things that interest you (warmer) and the things that fill you with a sense of disinterest or dread (colder). Move toward the red-hot fires. These are your passions.

Your passions are desires, interests, or activities that are lit by an unquenchable flame. They burn deep. When you dwell on them, you feel an energy that drives and satisfies.

Your passions matter because they are your first and best clues to recognizing your life’s purpose.

If your purpose is hidden, then seek out your passions. The closer you get, the more your life will begin to ignite.
