A Reflection On Blessing Others
A reflection on Blessing Others
When I want to share God’s goodness with others
There is a spiritual principle at work when we do anything in the Spirit, character, and name of Jesus. We were not created to be untapped reservoirs of His grace. We cannot store it up, and we cannot legitimately withhold it from others. But when we serve in humility, willingly taking a role that’s inferior to the ones to whom we minister, we become like Jesus. In effect, we become channels of His blessing. His mercy flows out, and we are emptied enough to receive more of His mercy.
This is how Jesus does His work in this world. The church is His body; its members must do the things that He would do if He were here in the flesh. If His Spirit is in us, we will be like Him and we will act like Him. His Spirit will flow from us to a needy world, and His Spirit will flow into us because we have not been stingy with His grace. We receive blessing because we have blessed others.
I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. . . . Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
John 13:15, 17
