Make the Most of Morning
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
THE ANNOYING ALARM, the quick stop at Starbucks for coffee, a bit of breakfast—if you are lucky! Is this your morning ritual? Want to trade it in for a new routine?
Here is some inspiration: “Abraham got up early that morning and hurried out to the place where he had stood in the LORD’s presence” (Genesis 19:27). “Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly” (Psalm 5:3). “As for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love” (Psalm 59:16).
Wouldn’t you rather start your day this way? If you currently aren’t spending time with God in the morning, try to give him five minutes before anything else gets in the way:
- Pray through your day before you get out of bed, and ask for his help.
- Rise to the sound of Christian radio rather than the buzz of an alarm.
- Read a psalm a day or a proverb a day. Write down a phrase to post on your mirror or desk, and meditate on it all day.
- Read a devotional such as Daily Light on the Daily Path.
- Record your prayers in a journal.
What are the results? A heart that rejoices and sings throughout the day.
