A Spectacle Of Glory #203

A Spectacle of Glory #203

Read: 2 Kings 6:1–7

Today’s Scripture tells a story about a man chopping down a tree with a borrowed ax. Suddenly, the axhead flew off the handle and landed in a deep stream. The man was distraught. What could he do? Wisely, he asked the prophet of God for help. Elisha made the iron float, and the man was able to reach in the water and retrieve it. That’s quite a story! An axhead that floats? Everyone knows that’s utterly impossible. But that’s the point of the whole story. God wants you to know He is in the business of doing the impossible. If God is calling you today to undertake a work far exceeding your strength—if it seems absurd to even attempt it—remember that floating axhead, and let your faith rise to the occasion! The God of Elisha still lives, and He lives to help you. He’ll provide the strength and ability—but He wants you to provide the faith. So believe God, move out ahead, and just watch the iron swim!

Dear Lord, please forgive me for giving up and walking away from situations that seem impossible to me. Forgive me for dropping certain people and certain problems off my prayer list because I can’t imagine how to resolve the difficulties. You are God. You are mighty. Anything is possible for You.
