A Spectacle Of Glory #246
A Spectacle of Glory #246
Read: Exodus 17:10-13
Israel was under attack from a fierce enemy while Moses stood on a hilltop, overlooking the battle below. As Moses held up his hands in prayer, the Israelites gained the upper hand. But when he became weary and lowered his arms, the invaders surged back. That’s when two men, Aaron and Hur, stepped in, one on each side, holding up their leader’s arms “so that his hands remained steady till sunset.”
The story reminds us that we all need help, especially when we’re in a battle. Think of the times when a friend or family member came to your aid when you felt weary from struggling through some hardship. These people didn’t just “happen along.” God sent them, just as He sent Aaron and Hur. Take a moment today to thank God for the help He sends at just the right moment. Then be sure to show gratitude to the Aarons and Hurs in your life.
Lord, I have had strong helpers my whole life. When I’ve been weary and discouraged and I didn’t think I could go on, You have always had someone who stepped alongside, helping me, praying for me, lending strength and courage when I had so little of my own. Thank You, Jesus. Now please help me to be an Aaron or Hur to someone in need today.
