A Spectacle Of Glory #276

Read: Psalm 138:8, NKJV

King David wrote, “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me.” Maybe you resonate with that verse because, at this moment, there are a number of things that concern you. This passage tells us that God is in all of those concerns—and using them to perfect you. The Living Bible reads, “The Lord will work out his plans for my life.” Since none of us know how long we will live, God may be close to completing His work, or He may have a long way to go. The encouraging thing is, He’s at work in your life. In your triumphs and golden moments. In your hardships and disappointments. These are all evidence of the perfecting work of God in you and through you. Yes, afflictions—especially new and hard ones—will always be a concern. But they are never random. And God will use every one of them for your good.

Lord, I do have concerns. Of course I do. But I can smile, knowing that I am still under construction, and that when You have finished, You will take me home to be with You. I can have quiet contentment, even in my afflictions, because of the future that awaits me. Taking up my cross today leads to a crown tomorrow.
