A Spectacle Of Glory #306
A Spectacle of Glory #306
Read: Psalm 10:17
Recently, a friend went through open-heart surgery and shared his amazement at the number of doctors and nurses who attended him in the operating room. It was an army of experts led by the head surgeon. The result? My friend’s heart is all the better for it.
In the same way, when you suffer, God marshals enormous spiritual resources on your behalf. At no other time does the patient have more of the surgeon’s attention than when he or she is bleeding beneath the knife of that expert. Psalm 10 says that when you suffer, you have 100 percent of God’s concentration—especially when you are suffering. So if you are in the midst of a trial today, be assured that you have the complete focus of God’s love, care, and attention. You may be sure that if you are suffering under the hand of God, you are in the crosshairs of his consummate compassion. And that is great news.
Father, you know better than anyone that I need all the help I can get—especially when a hard trial hits. I need every prop, every buttress and reinforcement available in your arsenal of support. Thank you for this reassurance that you’re willing to throw open the floodgates of heaven’s help. And I know I will be all the better for it.
