A Spectacle Of Glory #44

A Spectacle of Glory #44

Read: Philippians 2:28

The apostle Paul was no plaster saint. He didn’t walk two inches off the ground or wear a halo. He was a real human being who faced pressures, temptations, and anxieties. In today’s Scripture, he took action so he would have less anxiety. Paul knew what it meant to be troubled and discouraged—but he also knew what to do about it. In the same letter, he wrote, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.”a Paul isn’t saying your pain will go away or the circumstances will change. We don’t find peace through a change of circumstance; we find peace in our stressful circumstances: the rock-solid peace of knowing God is with you, He’s in charge, and you are safe and secure through your salvation in Christ.

Father, I know You have the power to change my painful circumstances. And I ask You to do that if You will. But if You are calling me to walk through this trial, then I ask You to show me the actions I need to take to reduce my anxious fears and feelings so I can focus on Your presence and Your peace.
