A Spectacle Of Glory #57

A Spectacle of Glory #57

Read: 2 Kings 6:16-17

The servant of the prophet Elisha went out for a casual stroll along the top of the walled city. What he saw made his blood freeze. The morning sun gleamed and flashed from the shields, swords, arrows, and spears of an invading army surrounding the city. Terrified, he scampered back to report the terrible news. Elisha’s reply was calm: “Don’t be afraid . . . Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And then the servant “saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” What was true for Elisha and his servant is true for every believer. Invisible, spiritual realities surround us. Holy angels observe and protect us. David wrote, “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.”a So today, remember that there is more to life than what you see with your physical eyes. And know that you are never, ever alone.

Lord, thank You for the presence and protection of Your mighty angels. Thank You for the times they have intervened in my life—turning me, redirecting me, alerting me—when I wasn’t even aware of their help. I look forward to the day when I will worship You alongside these wonderful fellow servants of Jesus.
