Simply Abiding

Simply Abiding

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.

John 15:4-5

When you spend time with Jesus, he fills you with his Spirit of grace, love, and power. The result is that your simple acts of service are transformed into profound and purposeful expressions of his heart. He can turn your gift of singing into a chorus of praise that ministers to an entire congregation. He can turn your casually shared testimony of faith into a life-changing moment for a friend. How comforting that Jesus doesn’t ask you to conjure up great acts of faith. He only desires that you abide in his presence. From that place of intimacy, you will “produce much fruit.”
