True Pleasure

God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

You probably already know from experience that God doesn’t force change on anyone. Still, if you try to become a better person in your own strength, you will get discouraged. Instead, ask God to begin a work of transformation in you that will last a lifetime. When you put Jesus first, you give him permission to change you by making your heart more like his. Allow God’s Spirit to do the work for you. “It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies” (Zechariah 4:6). His desires will become your desires, resulting in dramatic changes in your life that are pleasing to him—and ultimately to you as well.
