Beautiful Word Devotional #11

“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zephaniah 3:17

When a baby is fussy, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep, one thing a mother has in her arsenal of tricks is simply her voice. She enters the room, pats her sweet baby on the back, and sings soothing songs over the restless infant.

Imagine that picture for a moment. You are tossing a worry around in your head over and over again. Perhaps you can’t sleep from all the competing fears. That’s when you need to take a deep breath and choose to believe the truth of Zephaniah 3:17. God will sing over you. As you turn to him in your restlessness, he will sing songs over you of deliverance, hope, and peace just as a good mother sings over her fussy child.

Lord, help me to slow down and trust that you are singing over me as you handle my worries today, amen.
