Beautiful Word Devotional #112

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”

Revelation 22:12

We learn three things in this verse: Jesus is coming soon. He has rewards. He will reward us based on what we have done for him on earth.

In light of eternity, Jesus’ return is imminent. Although many have felt that Jesus could come back in their lifetime, we still live with joyful anticipation of his coming back and making everything right again. But even if he doesn’t come back in your lifetime, you will eventually see the end of the age when justice reigns.

In the meantime, we live in the amazing truth that Jesus saved us not just so we could rest in that salvation. Jesus saved us for a purpose: to further the kingdom of God and bring light into dark places. And he notes whenever we do so, even those tasks no one sees. May you find joy in being his light!

Lord, I live in the joyous truth that you will come and justice will reign. As I await that glorious moment, may I please you and honor you in the way I live each day, amen.
