Beautiful Word Devotional #125
“It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.”
Luke 12:37
And it would be bad, Jesus went on, for the servant who decided it would be awhile before the master returned and started beating his fellow servants and drinking with the drunkards. Like these servants, we don’t know when our Master—when Jesus—will return.
Jesus desires that, while we wait for his return, we work hard, being good stewards of what he has entrusted us to. This is a sharp rebuke for people who receive Christ but then forget they ever knew him. Soon they become lethargic toward spiritual things. They stop worshipping Christ.
Except that every single one of us will someday meet Jesus face-to-face. Then we will report what we did during our waiting period, that time between meeting Jesus and dying. And what exactly are you doing?
Jesus has gifted you to handle certain things for the kingdom. He has planned specific tasks that only you can perform. Your diligence in doing these will be a gift you give him in eternity.
Lord, I don’t want to be spiritually lazy; I want to serve you wholeheartedly! Amen.
