Beautiful Word Devotional #155

LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.

1 Kings 8:23

Imagine being described as one who lives wholeheartedly for God! You are not divided in your loyalties. You center your life around him and his ways instead of chasing after all the shiny things the world offers. Such wholehearted devotion is a goal worth striving for.

God has already demonstrated this kind of loyal, all-in love to us through his covenant promises. His covenant with Israel was not dependent on the nation’s obedience or good works; it was solely based on God’s goodness, his steadfastness, his wholehearted love. And, of course, this kind of God always keeps his promises.

God also demonstrated his wholehearted devotion to those he loves when he sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. That truth alone can bring hope today. God wholeheartedly loves you.

Lord, thank you for your wholehearted devotion to me. May I respond with wholehearted devotion to you, amen.
