Beautiful Word Devotional #184
LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
2 Chronicles 6:14
God always keeps his promises. The God of truth could not do otherwise!
God spells out his promises in what is called a covenant, and he cannot by his very nature break it. The covenants he makes are based on his unchanging love. May we love him wholeheartedly in return.
To love God this way means to do so single-mindedly: we don’t chase after things we might make into idols. Instead of being devoted to success or a perfect life, we are devoted to serving God and glorifying him.
When we live wholeheartedly for him, we come to know him more completely. We begin to appreciate even more that he is faithful, strong, capable, holy, grace-filled, intelligent, and beautiful. He relentlessly pursues his people, like a good shepherd searches for a lost sheep. That’s what God’s covenant love does.
May you both rest and rejoice in God’s sacrificial, pursuing love today.
Lord, I’m grateful for the promises you make and keep. I’m grateful for your love, amen.
