Beautiful Word Devotional #195

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

The opposite of strong and courageous is weak and fearful, traits that Moses alluded to in the second part of today’s verse. Much in our lives can make us tremble in fear. The economy. Difficult people. Our jobs. The state of our families. But God’s Word reminds us that we don’t have to be held hostage by our fears. Instead, we can turn to him, ask him to give us his strength, and then live full of courage and grit.

Also fueling this courage and grit is the amazing truth that God promises to never, ever leave us. He will not forsake us; he will not turn his back on us. No, he is constant. He walks with us today, and he will walk with us all our tomorrows.

Lord, I am so humbled and strengthened by your promise to stay with me and to never turn your back on me. Help me live mindful of that today and every day, amen.
