Beautiful Word Devotional #201
“Come, buy . . . without money and without cost.”
Isaiah 55:1
Imagine walking into a gourmet grocery store and lingering over the dark chocolate delicacies, the exotic fruit, and the imported cheese. As you look around, a clerk comes up to you and hands you a card. It reads: “Fill your cart for free today.” What joy you’d have walking the aisles, finding special treats, and putting them into your cart.
Now, wouldn’t you be grateful and excited about this amazing opportunity? You would probably tell everyone you know!
Think for a minute about the salvation Jesus offers. He gave himself freely in death on the cross so we could freely receive such priceless gifts as love, hope, and eternal life. Aren’t you grateful and excited about this amazing opportunity? Doesn’t it make sense to tell everyone you know! Think about those people in your life who would benefit from hearing about this generous God. Spend some time praying for each one, asking God to give you excited words about his free salvation.
Lord, thank you for your gift of salvation: while it is free to me, I know it cost you everything. May I live a life of gratitude, amen.
