Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

Our lives are in constant flux. We live somewhere for a while, only to move to an unfamiliar place. Or our jobs shift. Or friends move away. Or our relationships change as we navigate a changing interpersonal landscape. Even our bodies change as we age. Nothing seems to stay the same.

Nothing except Jesus Christ. Today’s Scripture proclaims his unchangeableness. He is consistently good, steady, strong, kind, and loving. His promises will never be revoked. The death he suffered on the cross has enabled you to know him intimately.

So when your life swirls into chaos, when circumstances change before your eyes, take courage in knowing your very patient Savior remains the same. He who flung the stars into existence will carry you when your life feels flung in a hundred different directions. In addition, he knows you. He knows what is best for your life. And he will be there for you and with you each step of the way.

Lord, I so need to know your steadiness today. I need you, my unchanging God, when life spins out of control, amen.
