Jesus told [Thomas], “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29
Look again at Jesus’ words. He was speaking about you—he was commending you—in the second part of this verse. Thomas had the advantage of meeting Jesus in the flesh, and Thomas believed because he saw the resurrected Lord. Yet you believe even though you haven’t seen Jesus. And you believe that God sent Jesus from heaven to our dark and fallen earth to live a perfect, sinless life. The spotless Lamb of God, Jesus satisfied the requirements of a sin sacrifice: he died on the cross for every sin ever committed—past, present, and future. Jesus’ death opened the door for all of us to be redeemed, but his death is not the end of his story or ours. His resurrection proved that he was the long-awaited Messiah.
Do you believe? If so, know that Jesus spoke blessings over individuals like you who believe without seeing him with your eyes.
Lord, I thank you for the grace you pour into my life, specifically for giving me faith in you, amen.
