Beautiful Word Devotional #356

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Imagine you’ve been asked to present at two different conferences. The first conference gives you no instructions. A typed note tells you where your presenting room is, but nothing more. At the second conference, a concierge greets you by name, gives you clear directions as to what you’re to do, and hands you a packet of information about the organizer’s hopes and goals.

Which experience would you prefer?

Like the concierge, God has anticipated your participation in his work in this world. He has, in fact, prepared “good works” for you to do. So he greets you today, warm and welcoming, and then, through the Holy Spirit, gives you clear directions. Also, in his written Word, the Bible, God shares his heart and outlines his hopes and goals for your life.

What an amazing truth! God has prepared in advance good works for you to do, and your doing them is important in his kingdom.

Lord, I’m grateful you’ve prepared good works for me today. Spirit, guide me to them and enable me to serve well, amen.
