Beautiful Word Devotional #38
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”
Ezekiel 11:19
An undivided heart is rare these days. All of us are pulled in a hundred different directions. No wonder each of us walks this earth scattered—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
So what does it mean to have an undivided heart when it comes to our relationship with God? It means we make him the most important Person, thought, and focus in our lives. We let him take precedence over everything and everyone. Sounds simple and straightforward, right? But the behavior is definitely not intuitive for us.
This verse from Ezekiel teaches that an undivided heart and a new spirit are both gifts from God. We are able to receive them after God removes our hard hearts and gives us new life.
So be encouraged! You may feel pulled in various directions, but God is at work in you, giving you an undivided heart. Rest in that. Be at peace.
Lord, I’m thankful you have given me an undivided heart in this very divided world, amen.
