Rest - Bible Promises for Moms
Rest
I’m a doer. I’m a goer. I’m an organizer. I’m an achiever. My family will tell you that I can be like a force of nature when I’m on a mission. Rest is not my default position. And yet God calls us to a life of balance. Even Jesus stepped aside and out of the frenzied crowds in order to recharge His batteries and renew His spirit. We weren’t made to be “human doings.” We were made to be “human beings,” and sometimes we have to simply “be” for a little while. If your default is rest, perhaps you need to get a planner, set some goals, and define some concrete steps to achieve those goals. But if you’re a doer like me, schedule rest. Schedule time for prayer. Schedule a getaway—even if it’s just for a day. Schedule time to step away from the “busy” with your husband to talk, dream, and imagine. On the seventh day, even God Himself rested from His creative miracles. He defined for us a Sabbath day for rest from the busyness of life. Give yourself the gift of rest, busy mom. Your body, your mind, and your soul need it.
WHEN HIS YOKE IS THE ONE YOU NEED . . .
Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
WHEN SLEEP SEEMS HARD TO FIND . . .
It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.
WHEN YOU NEED TO BE REMINDED THAT THIS SEASON IS NOT FOREVER . . .
Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
