You Can Let Go Of Control

Breathe Deep and Know: You can let go of your grip of control and rest within God’s fortress of love.

I’m really good at making plans and then letting God know what I think is best and how I think things should work out. I like to take the lead, to be in control, to micromanage every detail. My desire for control often manifests as perfectionism, with endless lists and goals and super high expectations. I often think control can ensure my security, keeping my life safe and predictable and on the path I have carved out. But control is an illusion, and perfectionism is a prison.

The truth is, life is unpredictable and full of change. We were never meant to control everything but to trust in God’s control. God is constant and His Word never changes. Unlike the weak and unsteady walls of perfectionism and control, God is a true rock and fortress, a strong and sure protection no matter what comes. Leaning into His wisdom to lead and guide us in our lives frees us from the chains of anxiety and knocks down the walls of control.

Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
