Daily Power #176

Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other. (Judg. 16:29)

Remember Samson? The strong man with the famous haircut at the hands of the beautiful but devious Delilah? If you know his story well (or go read it in Judges 13–16), then you know he made some big mistakes. He let his vanity, pride, and male ego get in the way of his commitment to God. But even after he blew it, Samson did what he could to overcome his weaknesses. He may have felt defeated, but he wasn’t through fighting—not yet.

The same is true for you. Even in the midst of your failures, God can use you. No matter how many times you’ve messed up, if you’re not dead, you’re not done. There’s more in you.

Maybe you’re thinking, “But Craig, you don’t know all the stuff I’ve done. I’ve made so many mistakes.” Haven’t we all? Those chapters from your past just add new dimensions of redemption to your story. And if you’re reading this, then your story isn’t over.

God isn’t finished with you.

You’re not finished with you either. Do you have some pillars in your life that you need to push down? Pillars that are holding up what’s been ruling you, oppressing you, tormenting you? What are they? Give every pillar a name—then with God’s power, knock them down.

Don’t go down without a fight.

Remember, God will fight alongside you.
