Daily Power #187
Daily Power #187
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (Rom. 6:13)
We have to recognize that we don’t have the potential of eternal life because we’re good—we have it because God is good. We can’t change on our own power any more than we could build a new house with our bare hands. We change because we yield our lives into the hands of God, the master builder, the author and finisher of our faith.
If you’ve accepted the free gift of salvation through Christ, the foundation for your new life is already in place. There’s nothing you can do to make him love you more, and there’s no sin you can commit that can make him love you less, because he loves you. God is love. Love is not what God does; it’s who he is.
Because he loves you so much, he sent Jesus, who did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but humbled himself and became nothing, taking on the form of a servant. Even being obedient to death on the cross. It’s hard to grasp this kind of humility and servant-heartedness.
While you were still a sinner, Christ died for you.
Now that you’re forgiven, you can live for him.

Jesus, I can’t fully comprehend the sacrifice you made for me. Today I offer myself to you as your instrument of righteousness, grace, and love for those around me.
