Daily Power #204
Daily Power #204
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. (Rom. 8:24–25)
Sometimes life can be so discouraging. You have a clear vision of where you would like to be, but you can’t seem to get there. You know who you would love to become, but the journey just doesn’t seem possible.
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I try to remind myself simply to do one thing that will move me toward the goal. Just one thing.
Think about it. Can you run a marathon today? Probably not. But can you walk a mile today? Sure. If you can walk a mile today, then you might be able to walk two tomorrow. Before long, you are growing in endurance. Within months you may be running five or ten miles a day, and the journey toward a marathon is on its way.
The same is true with your weight. Can you lose twenty pounds by Friday? It’s not likely. But can you say no to dessert? Of course. Can you exercise three times this week? Yes—if you put your mind to it. Can you do little things each day that will help you shed the pounds over time? No doubt about it.
If there is something you hope to accomplish, tell yourself, “I will do the things today that will enable me to do tomorrow what I can’t do today.” God will help you achieve your goal. One step at a time.

I’m overwhelmed sometimes, Lord, and feel like I’ll never reach my goals. Today I know you will encourage me and give me the strength to take my next step.
