Daily Power #301

Daily Power #301

“And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.” (Matt. 5:41 ESV)

I’ve had the privilege of hearing the stories of several people who grew closer to Christ when they decided to serve. One is a thirteen-year-old boy named Gavin. After a friend invited Gavin to church, Gavin met the grace of Jesus, surrendered his life to Christ, and was baptized. And even though Gavin wasn’t an adult, he started serving.

Now every week he worships in one service on the weekend, then serves at the other six. You read that right. A thirteen-year-old boy serves at six services every weekend. Rain or shine, you’ll see this fired-up kid welcoming people to church week after week. Serving impacted Gavin’s life so much that he asked for permission to get other students involved serving. Now this middle-school student has personally recruited and oversees fifty other students who serve on our host team. Talk about a gift of leadership! Gavin doesn’t just occasionally and sporadically serve. He is a servant. That’s who he is.

No matter what your gift, God has given it to you not just to make your life better but to use it to serve him and others in the church. If you’re just “going” to church and not serving in church, I can promise you that God wants to do more in you and through you.

Power Lift

Dear God, work in my heart so that I can be your humble servant, giving my gifts to all those around me.
