Daily Power #313

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8)

In the Bible we often see the Israelites sending scouts ahead as they wandered in the wilderness looking for the Promised Land. These spies reported on potential dangers and enemies, many of which they had encountered and defeated on their journeys. They also blazed trails so that when they returned with the entire group they would know how to proceed within the untamed area. They made sure it was safe for everyone to proceed before they all went charging in.

They learned something that we as believers still know today: God is the ultimate scout, going ahead of us and preparing the path we are to follow. He equips us for the route we should take, warning us of danger and protecting us from assaults by our Enemy. Even when we can’t see what’s ahead, we can step out in faith, confident in God’s guidance. The uncertainty of the future doesn’t have to cause us fear or worry.

Today you don’t have to worry about what lies ahead—God has already scouted it out. He will lead you. Just follow the trail of faith.

Power Lift

Lord, I give you thanks for all the ways that you go before me and prepare the way. Today I want to follow you, stepping out in faith even when I don’t know what’s around the corner.
