Daily Power #363
Daily Power #363
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phil. 1:6)
When I was hired into ministry, I felt overwhelmed with insecurity. I knew that I didn’t know enough, wasn’t good enough, and certainly wasn’t holy enough. Hoping it didn’t show, I did my best to blend in with the church staff, but underneath it all, I was paralyzed with fear and insecurities.
One day a lady named Mary said, “Good morning, Pastor Craig.” No one had ever called me “Pastor” before. I froze in my tracks. Later that day I was chatting with my boss, Pastor Nick. I told him how unworthy I felt when she called me by such an important and reverent title. Nick smiled a knowing smile and said, “Yep, I used to feel the exact same way. But don’t worry,” he continued, “you’ll grow into that title.”
I’ll never forget those words. “You’ll grow into it.” He was right. Over time, with God’s grace and some experience, I’m now confident in the title. And it’s not because I have it all down. It’s because I know that God has called me and is with me.
As you reflect on this past year, you may not yet be all you want to be. You may not know all you’d hoped to know. You may still have issues that you deal with daily. But don’t worry. God calls you an “overcomer.” God says you are “blessed.” He says you are the “righteousness of God in Christ.”
God is still working in you. He’s conforming you to the image of his Son. You’ll grow into it.
Power Lift
I’ve made mistakes this past year, Lord, and haven’t always been as faithful to you as I want. Thank you for never giving up on me. I’m excited about the year ahead with you!
