Daily Power #43
Daily Power #43
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deut. 6:5)
When Amy and I were first married, we quickly realized that the person we married was not perfect. One early battlefield, or should I say, “batter-field,” for us was the breakfast table, because our weapon of choice was pancakes. You see, she made these little goopy circles of batter and called them “hotcakes,” and I made these beautiful golden orbs of deliciousness called, understandably, pancakes. We even argued over whether to butter them and what kind of syrup to use!
It wasn’t easy, but Amy and I knew that the commitment we had made to each other meant learning all there was to know—good and bad—and loving each other completely. I suspect it’s this way for most of us. When we meet someone we love, someone who clearly loves us just for who we are, then we want them to know us completely. We want to be seen and understood fully.
The same is true with God. He wants us to love him with all areas of our being, not just when we go to church, say a prayer, or serve someone in need. Our relationship with him is the most important one we will ever have. So we must be committed to giving him everything we’ve got—our full attention, dedication, and devotion.
Consider how you can love God more fully by everything you think, say, and do today.

Lord, I love you so much and want to devote my heart, soul, and strength to showing others my love for you. Reveal to me any areas that I need to surrender in order to love you more fully.
