Daily Power #70

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (Phil. 3:12)

It was one of those rare occasions when I was grocery shopping with my wife. I was stunned to see so many varieties of, well, everything! From kinds of mustard (mild, spicy, hot, zesty, sweet) to breakfast cereals (with berries, without berries, vanilla, chocolate, apple), dozens of possibilities smiled back from every aisle.

And it’s not just the grocery store. Today we have more options, choices, and opportunities than ever before in human history. From what we want on our burgers to the color of our homes, from where we stay on vacation to where we go to church, we’re encouraged to choose the “best”—usually what is popular or appears to be the “perfect” choice.

As a result, we often put pressure on ourselves to have our lives together before we start over with God. But he doesn’t expect us to be perfect. God doesn’t call us to live a perfect life and didn’t create us for a problem-free existence.

Each day will hold enough trouble of its own. And God will provide all the power we need to overcome these challenges. We don’t have to face our problems alone. We don’t have to get our lives in order before we ask God for help.

He loves you just the way you are.

And he loves you too much to let you stay that way.

Power Lift

I’m so glad that you don’t expect more from me than I’m capable of giving, God. Thank you that I don’t have to be perfect. Help me to believe that you love me just as I am. And give me the eyes to see the ways that you are transforming me.
