Daily Power #86

Daily Power #86

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jer. 33:3)

Have you ever been around someone you respect so much that you stumble over your words? Because you look up to them, you want to make a good impression. But in the pressure to perform, you end up saying the wrong things. Instead of winning them with your wisdom, you walk away feeling stupid and embarrassed.

I remember the first time I met my pastor. He had impacted my life in such a significant way, I wanted to make the best impression possible. After making awkward small talk during our first conversation, my pastor asked me what I wanted to do with my life. Knowing that I wanted to be a pastor, I accidentally said, “I want your job.” He laughed and said, “Well, maybe I should quit then so you can have it,” and then he laughed out loud. Even though he was being playful, I was so embarrassed I could barely utter another word.

I’m so glad that we don’t have to feel pressure when we approach God. We don’t have to worry about getting the words right or being afraid that we might say the wrong things.

Like a child approaching a loving dad, we can approach our heavenly Father knowing that he loves us and is ready to hear the cries of our hearts. When we call on him, he will always answer.

Power Lift

Father, thank you for hearing my prayers and for answering them. I’m grateful that you speak to me through your Word and through your Spirit. Help me to hear your voice today.
