Daily Power #89
When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. (Ps. 138:3)
Do you remember how large cell phones were when they first came out? I can remember thinking, “Why would anybody want to have one of those?” Even as they became more popular and portable, I was still reluctant to adopt them. I couldn’t imagine having to live with a device that allowed people to call me anytime, day or night.
Nowadays, it’s rare that we can’t reach someone with whom we want to connect. We text them, and if they don’t respond, we do it the old-fashioned way and call them. If they don’t answer, we look for them on Facebook or other social media, or we shoot them an email. We’ve become so conditioned to reaching the other people in our lives that when we can’t connect with someone, we’re easily frustrated.
Sometimes we may feel like God isn’t responding to our attempts to reach him either. But even if we don’t hear from him the way we want, when we want, we can know that he’s still there, listening and caring. He does answer us and he does embolden us with his power, strength, and grace.
We have to remember that God never ignores our calls or fails to answer our requests. He is always available to us, no technology needed.
